It’s Pup Faun, back with another quick recipe for you, and yes, that is a real picture of me in the kitchen. Ain’t I the cutest?
But! I’m here to lead a revolution to defend snacks. I don’t really think they were being attacked, but I’m here to defend them! Snacking is one of my favorite personal activities, and I love to be able to make fun treats for my friends when they come over! So today, I’ll be showing you the INCREDIBLY SIMPLE magic of Parm-Crisps. They’re just cheese. That’s the magic.
Yes, just cheese that you fry on a pan into crispy, crunchy, delicious little bites. You can also cook them in an oven or air fryer, but the short process I’ll be describing today just involves a pan and your stovetop. Other than being able to serve them to family or vanilla friends, they’re perfect for giving to ABDLs as finger-food or to keep in containers as incentive treats for a day with your human-puppies.
Just a couple of quick disclaimers, I’ve never tried this with vegan cheese. I’m not sure if it would cook the same way. And I’ve never tried keeping them in a container for more than a few hours. I usually make some and eat them all on the same day. I don’t think they would keep very well overnight. That being said, let’s do this!
This will be the quickest recipe process ever. They really are super easy to make! The ONLY ingredient you’ll need is a bag of shaved Parmesan. I’ve just been using Lucerne from the store.
If you want to add salt, pepper, or any other seasonings, have those ready as well! But personally, I think the Parmesan is flavorful enough on its own.
Now for the process!:
-Spread out pieces of the shaved Parmesan (and any desired seasoning) onto a stovetop pan and place them on a burner.
-Have an adult turn on the burner to medium heat.
-Watch as the cheese melts and bubbles into crisps! Turn the heat off once the cheese starts to change color to yellow/gold and the edges start to look a little brown, and then let it cool on the pan for a few minutes. Make sure to let it cool! While they cool on the pan, the crisps will finish cooking and harden.
-The cheese should come off of the pan easily with a spatula; collect the crisps onto a plate and break them up to your desired size.
You have some delicious, crunchy Parmesan cheese crisps as a yummy snack! I’ve seen them served with marinara sauce or ranch to dip them in, as part of a charcuterie board, or all on their own! These have been my personal addiction lately. I love to cook up a big bowl and snack on them throughout the afternoon. And as the holiday season quickly approaches, these are easy, flavorful-finger-food you can put out for your loved ones. This process can also easily be done with other cheeses, like cheddar, for a healthier and homemade “Cheez-It” snack.
So I hope this quick snacking recipe has been fun, informative, and mostly DELICIOUS. If you get the chance to make them, reach out on social media and let us know how it goes! Or send us a picture of your finished crisps! We love the chance to hear from our readers.
